Photographs from Spain and Italy13/04/2009home|previous|next
A version says that during the Spanish Civil War (1934-1936). A priest took the picture of the Ciborium with Jesus Consecrated which he kept in his house to protect it from the pillages. The second version establishes that the photo was taken when the Ciborium was returned to the Sacrarium after the pillages had taken place. Either, one or another, the image on the left appeared. The photograph is adjudicated to Mrs. Gladys.
The picture on the right was taken in Italy in 1960 by Eugenio Siragusa. The place where is being kept does not tell the anecdote. Context. The URSS had recently taken East Europe and had put his eye on Italy, where they received the back up from the local communist party, confronted to the Christian democracy. The Red Brigades started and perpetrated terrorist acts. That year, Judica Cordiglia- who would afterward study the radiation on the Holy Shroud- captures emissions from soviet spy satellites; that almost initiates the Cold War.
