9th application of the Sudarium: Face cover on the translation18/04/2009home|previous|next

This application was found due to the “3” shape wound on the forehead (red arrow) and was to cover the Face during the translation to the sepulcher.

The yellow arrows show the outline of the bandage that rounded up the head to hold the jaw; the orange arrows point out the bandage parts that supported the Body hanging from the pole carrier, and appear distended because they touched the Sudarium while leaving the Body in the Sepulcher.

The same traces of the bandage with which the harness was assembled, tells us that it stayed wet with the blood that drained from his side, thus not much time had passed since the second application, when, with this bandage the Sudarium was oppressed to pick up the blood and water draining from the lance wound on the flank.
